PCT Vaccine Rebate Claim Update (posted 9th February 2006)

Most of the data provided by the LMC to the PCT has been verified. There remains a few discrepancies with a small number of practices who will be contacted across the next week.

Meanwhile, Wyeth have advised Farillon to credit the accounts directly of practices who were supplied with either Sanofi or Enzira vaccines.

PCT Vaccine Rebate Claim (posted 2nd February 2006)

Your LMC has submitted details of the final number of vaccines ordered by practices for the 2005 campaign (provided by the Flu Vaccine Suppliers) to the PCT. Once the information has been agreed by the PCT, practices supplied by Solvay (Influvac) will receive a rebate of 49p per vaccine. Practices supplied either CSL or Aggripal by Wyeth will also be entitled to a 49p a dose rebate. Practices who were supplied either Sanofi or Enzira by Wyeth will receive a refund equivalent to 49p per dose directly from Wyeth (probably via Farillon). Your LMC will inform practices of the mechanism for payment of the PCT rebate in due course.

In the meantime practices with any queries should contact Paul Stevens on 07770 616235

Delay update (posted 4th August 2005)

Stockport LMC has been advised by Solvay that the delivery of their vaccines for 2005 has been delayed by 2 weeks as a result of WHO's late release of a vaccine seed strain to the industry. It is understood that all Flu Vaccine suppliers will be confirming a similar delay this year.

We are still anticipating a 4 - 6 week delivery delay for Wyeth vaccines.

Potential Vaccine Delays (posted 28th July 2005)

Stockport LMC has been informed that Wyeth will be unable to supply the Begrivac flu vaccine to European customers this year. Wyeth have therefore sourced sufficient alternative UK licensed vaccines to supply all their UK customers. Delivery dates are currently being finalised but Wyeth expect a delay of 2–4 weeks from originally proposed initial delivery dates.

In addition a minor delay is also anticipated due to the late announcement of a vaccine seed strain to the industry. Therefore, all suppliers are expecting vaccine deliveries to start up to two weeks later than originally scheduled and Wyeth are advising their customers to plan to start their campaigns 4—6 weeks later than usual.

Wyeth will be writing to all their customers during week commencing 25th July advising them of the problem and again in two weeks time to advise revised delivery dates. For further information please contact your vaccine supplier.

Tender Result

The result of the Tender to supply the Greater Manchester Flu Purchasing Consortium is that Wyeth will be preferred supplier in most PCTs with Solvay's Influvac being secondary supplier. In some PCTs Solvay's Invivac will be the preferred supplier with Wyeth as secondary supplier.

As last year practices should note that the consortium’s decision will be based on the following criteria:

  • Choosing two suppliers whose Supply Chain is not linked.
  • Best combination of Profit to GP and NHS price
  • Suppliers Track Record

In common with previous years we will offer practices the option of either tender, a 50/50 or 75/25% split between the respective suppliers.

Naturally, should you have any queries in respect of this year’s consortium please do not hesitate to contact me.
