FluConsortium 2004 - Solvay & Wyeth to Supply in 2004

  Solvay and Wyeth 2004 Suppliers

All orders placed through the LMC have now been passed to Solvay & Wyeth. Any practice still wanting to place an order should contact their preferred supplier direct.

The Association of Greater Manchester LMCs has chosen Solvay and Wyeth as its preferred suppliers for the forthcoming flu season.

Once again the Consortium has achieved an increased discount from both its preferred suppliers and with their 60% discount Solvay purchasers will earn approximately £5.69 per dose in addition to the enhanced service fee (where applicable). This clearly shows the benefits of purchasing through the consortium. Indeed many of last year’s unsuccessful suppliers remarked on Practice’s loyalty to the Consortium and I know this has been one of the main reasons for the competitive nature of the bids placed before us this year.

Practices should note that the consortium’s decision this year has been based on the following criteria:

  • Choosing two suppliers whose Supply Chain is not linked.
  • Best combination of Profit to GP and NHS price
  • Suppliers Track Record

In common with previous years we will offer practices the option of either tender, a 50/50 or 75/25% split between the respective suppliers.

Bearing in mind the scope of the Enhanced Services Payment for influenza vaccination has been extended to cover at risk under 65s, practices may wish to split their order to ensure they preserve options with either supplier should they need to order additional stock during the vaccination season.

Should you wish to participate in this year’s Consortium, please indicate both the quantity of vaccines required and your supplier preference to Paul Stevens at Stockport LMC.

I have also included a section to be completed in respect of pneumococcal vaccine. I am informed, once again; this year that Aventis Pasteur MSD will be the sole supplier of this vaccine. To pre-book your supply at the consortium price please complete and return appropriately.

Naturally, should you have any queries in respect of this year’s consortium please do not hesitate to contact me.
